Carmel joined YSC Consulting in 2002, beginning her tenure in the London office. As the Managing Director & CPO, Head of APAC, Carmel divides her time between the company’s ANZ, China, Hong Kong, India and Singapore offices. She is charged with ensuring YSC’s people are in the correct roles and that they have the skills they need to provide the highest level of service to the company’s clients. Carmel consults globally on leadership strategy; she’s currently focused on CEO succession, C-suite development, top team facilitation and leadership coaching. She has worked across a range of industries, including natural resources, financial services, PE, retail, aviation, FMCG, leisure and hospitality.
Prior to joining YSC, Carmel worked for Monitor Group as a strategy consultant in their Johannesburg, Athens and London offices. She graduated with a PDM from Wits Business School in 1993, an MPhil in Applied Business Ethics from the University of Stellenbosch in 1998 and an MA in Consultation and the Organisation from the Tavistock Clinic in 2003.
Carmel specialises in the intersection of the individual and the system – she’s passionate that business growth requires a focus on both. Having lived and worked in numerous countries, she brings a global mindset to her work and is ever curious about how different cultures approach leadership. She is a sought after coach and facilitator who is valued for her straightforward style, insight and humour. Outside of work, she is a dog lover, eternal yoga beginner (still mastering the handstand) and a keen foodie. Originally from Johannesburg, Carmel now lives in Sydney.
