Steve Van Zuylen
Managing Director of UKE
Steve brings more than 20 years of international experience in CEO succession, executive team development, leadership advisory, executive coaching and assessment, diversity, equity and inclusion, and culture change. His consulting work extends to such industries as consumer goods, media, pharmaceutical, financial services and energy. He has worked with listed as well as Private Equity backed businesses. Currently based in the UK and having spent more than a decade working in the US and Latin America, he brings a truly cross-cultural view as well as insights into the unique opportunities and challenges of developing diverse executives in fast growth markets. Steve joined YSC in 2011 in Mexico to lead the start-up of our Latin American business which he spearheaded through a period of significant growth. He moved to the UK in 2015 to help support our growth in Europe. Today, a member of the YSC Board and Global Leadership Team, he leads YSC’s EME and Global Markets, overseeing the P&Ls of our businesses in Latin America, Asia and ANZ. Prior to joining YSC, Steve held multiple in-house HR roles including Chief Learning Officer and Head of Talent and D&I in a global financial services organization.
He brings unique expertise in supporting leaders through transitions into larger leadership roles and particularly into the C-Suite. This often involves working on influence, organizational and personal purpose, decision support, stakeholder management and team dynamics. He is passionate about global leadership and supporting executives to lead inclusively in international environments as well as preparing for cross-cultural transitions.
Steve is fluent in Spanish, holds a BA in Management Studies and a post graduate certificate in Human Resource Management from the University of Leeds, UK. He is a graduate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development and a professional certified coach with the International Coach Federation. He is a certified Team Coach (AOEC) and is trained in systemic coaching and constellations.
He’s married, with two lively and fun-filled children. Most of his spare time is spent with them but when he does get a few minutes for himself he can be found tearing down hills on a mountain bike or seeking out obscure new music to obsess about.
“I had the pleasure to work closely with YSC and Steve for about 2yrs. He coached some of our top executives and helped them unleash their talent. Today I am happy to report that this talent, coached by Steve and his organization have delivered three years of record results in our business. Steve is a coach that challenges you to deeply assess yourself and really develop, and someone that remains connected throughout the journey and after it is finished. I appreciate Steve as a great professional and a truly caring human being.”

“Steve’s style is above all bespoke. The structures he brings only serve as a jumping off point to build a tailored set of conversations and guidance. That guidance was pragmatic, practical and immediately useable. I was concerned that I would be bombarded with coaching & HR gobbledygook, but nothing could be further from truth”.
