Jonathan Dean
Director
Jonathan brings over 12 years of leadership consulting experience. He joined YSC in 2012 and is currently a Director in the Europe and Middle East business. He manages a number of clients on a global and regional level, spanning sectors including Financial Services, FMCG, Media, Manufacturing and the Public Sector. He is passionate about seeing leaders flourish, knowing themselves better so that they can grow and impact their environments for good. His work encompasses a range of individual assessment and coaching at executive level, team development, leadership program and wider organizational consulting. Most recently, he co-led the team development practice area for Europe and the Middle East. He particularly enjoys joining up deep individual insight with the organization’s strategic context, helping to crystallize and facilitate change at both levels.
As a coach, he creates a safe, supportive space for leaders to unlock possibilities. He sees a trusted relationship as the best way to grow and discover new ways of thinking. Behind his calm and considered thought is a willingness to question and challenge, ultimately with a pragmatism for what will have the desired impact for the leader and their business.
At YSC, he played a key role in the validation of YSC’s Model of Leadership Resilience, now used to support clients across the globe.
He gained a First Class Honours degree in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Edinburgh and later a Distinction in Psychology MSc from the University of Northumbria. He has a Practitioner Diploma in Executive Coaching from the The Academy of Executive Coaching (AoEC) and is accredited across a number of psychometric tools (Hogan, FIRO B, Swift). He is a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
Two young sons keep him occupied outside of work, providing an unending source of learning and development. He is a keen musician and an avid player and watcher of sport, particularly when it comes to Arsenal Football Club.
“Jonathan has helped us work on our leadership capabilities, both what we have and where we need to build. I value his careful, thoughtful insights and his thorough assessments as part of the selection process. He combines care and focus with flexibility and responsiveness when we need to move fast. I view him as part of my wider virtual team and would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone.”
