Dr. Carla Deazle began her teaching career teaching high school English in public schools on Long Island and Brooklyn, New York. She has both taught and was an administrator for many years in higher education. As an administrator, her focus was on shared governance, conflict resolution and innovative curriculum development. Her administrative range was not only limited to colleagues but also to former students who due to her mentoring both academically and professionally, paved their own impressive professional paths such as earning doctorates, law and other graduate certificates and degrees of study.
She is an Adelphi University graduate who earned her undergraduate degree in English, and masters degree in secondary education. She has a PhD in Higher Education Administration with a focus in African American males assimilation into suburban college campuses. Additionally, she completed hours of chef training and received a certificate in culinary nutrition from the Natural Gourmet Institute in New York which has now merged with the Institute of Culinary Education.
Her professional passions include inclusivity, diversity, and equity and her personal passions are being a mom to her son who is 6 years old and to her daughter who is 4 years old.
