Talent Strategy Diagnostic and Solutions with a Fortune 250 Biopharmaceutical Company


Our client is a Fortune 250 global biopharmaceutical company which specializes in the discovery, development, and delivery of medicines to help patients prevail over serious diseases in areas such as cancer, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, amongst others.

Since the early 2000s, there has been a long history of change and restructure within the organization. In recent years, a key priority was the development of a multi-year talent management strategy. The client wanted to clearly articulate their talent strategy as more than just a process and ultimately accelerate their approach to talent and build internal capability, by prioritizing short-term goals within a long-term strategy.

Our challenge was to ascertain if the current talent strategy and approach was fit for purpose in delivering the organizational mission. We partnered with the client to conduct a talent strategy diagnostic, make recommendations on key priorities, and provide an unbiased, holistic view of the state of the current talent strategy and approach.

Our online tool was used to identify if the client’s approach to talent management was fit for purpose, framed around five key components:

We worked closely with the talent team to understand the dynamics that were impacting their efforts and facilitated a working session around elements that enable a healthy talent infrastructure, including:

This allowed the team to identify and articulate key objectives for the next three years.

Targeted Assessment and Development

YSC assessed leaders, based on YSC’s Potential Model and the client’s leadership capabilities, for selection and developmental decision-making. We also coached new leaders to integrate into the business, and transition into new leadership mandates so that investment in assessment is realized.

Diverse Talent Accelerator Program

The client committed to differentiated investment and a customized approach to the identification and development of talent cohorts that would empower and accelerate the progression of their diverse talent.

Talent Analytics

Quarterly, YSC provides aggregate insights and trends to key stakeholders and sponsors within the business. These analyses reflect key themes, patterns, challenges, and recommendations to keep the solutions adding unique value.
