Our Community

We are an eclectic group of smart, energetic and characterful professionals. Take a look below at some of our recent accomplishments in and outside the office.

Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month

YSC Consulting is honoring Hispanic Heritage Month with a series of activities and discussions to raise awareness of the rich, diverse cultures and experiences of LatinX people around the world. These include: Mi Gente, Mi Vida (My People, My Life) storytelling on family, Hispanic Identities and Outside Influences panel, Spanish 101 lessons and book readings followed by discussions.

Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

This month is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. A year ago a beloved member of our YSC family lost her 9 year old daughter to an aggressive pediatric brain cancer called DIPG, a battle they fought for 11 months.  This is an annual international awareness month to raise support, funding and awareness of childhood cancers, time to recognize the children and families affected by childhood cancers and to emphasize the importance of supporting research on these devastating conditions. In honor of Elita and all the children and families affected by childhood cancer please join YSC Consulting and help raise awareness and GET INSPIRED THROUGH ACTION.

Marking Time Day

Marking Time Day

After a year of bringing our workplaces into our homes, wresting our faces into little boxes on screen, and sculpting dwindling energy reserves into previously unimaginable shapes and sizes, YSC Consulting is taking a break. We know too well – and so do you! – the lure of the e-mail app on our phones, how easily a day off can be derailed by a random text message or seven, and how challenging it can be to be physically present, even when we’re not moving quite as much as we used to.

All YSC Consulting offices will be closed on Monday 29 March for “Marking Time Day.” We’ve built in a long weekend so that our colleagues around the world can take a break, take a breath, and acknowledge this chaotic year in whatever way suits each of us best – all without the fear of an unwieldy inbox or anxious colleagues unintentionally messing with our good vibes within minutes of a return! As leaders, we all have responsibility and occasion to help each another to build resilience and community care. We hope you can take some time to mark time and start again. We’ll be right there with you.

International Womens Day 2021

International Womens Day 2021

March 8th was International Women’s Day (IWD) 2021 #IWD2021 and to celebrate, YSC Consulting launched a global virtual initiative. This year is all about challenge so that we can continue to make positive change in our efforts to drive Gender Equity. Change is only possible when we hold ourselves accountable and exercise courage in setting out new habits and behaviors in support of the change we want to see. With this in mind, we have urged everyone at YSC to share their intentional actions under this year’s theme of #ChooseToChallenge. This is not a one-time event, we will be sending nudges to remind ourselves to stick to our intention throughout the year and revisit our collective progress this time next year for IWD 2022. Here are some of the intentions people across YSC have committed to.

It is an amazing achievement! Congratulations Hanna!

Sharing a few more pictures of our team as they participated in the Red Cross Relief Run around the world this weekend. Special shout out to Edwina McDowall, a top-tier marathon runner who supported the cause by swimming the distance because her foot is currently injured. We appreciate everyone who took time out of their weekend to run, walk, swim and/or donate in honor of the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund!

Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund – Update
Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund

In response to the devastating bushfires that have swept Australia, our colleagues from around the world participated in the Red Cross Relief Run this past weekend, a 21.1km or 5km virtual run with 100% of proceeds from entry fees and donations supporting the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund. Other team members have opted to support by donating directly to the humanitarian organization. And as a business, we have donated $25,000 AUD to the Australian Red Cross as part of our commitment to help the local community.

Our thoughts are with those directly affected by these fires, as well as the brave firefighters and community groups involved in disaster relief efforts.

Black History Month (UK)

Black History Month (UK)

Our London office celebrated #BlackHistoryMonth in October with a screening of short clips, including “Black British History We’re Not Taught in Schools” by David Olusoga, writer and historian of BBC’s “Alt History.” Following the screenings, we created a psychologically safe space for everyone to contribute their personal experiences and share how they were impacted by the screening, leading to larger discussions about #intersectionality within our own business.

Shelley Winter’s Journey With YSC

Shelley Winter’s Journey With YSC

“When I joined YSC in London in 2005, I would never have believed I would still be here 14 years later. I enjoy variety, connection and challenge. In my 14 years across three YSC offices, I have had so many different professional opportunities to keep learning and growing, and to make lifelong friendships around the world. We have the privilege of working with impressive clients who inspire us to be at our best and the fortune to work with talented colleagues who bring such a diverse range of expertise. I’ve been encouraged to follow my passions around coaching, resilience and change leadership to have greater impact in our client systems. I belong at YSC because we truly live our values of relationship, character and impact.”

Arrival Education Internship

Special shout out to our #interns from Arrival Education – Delzerine Duberry and Iryna Krupnyk – for creating such a thought-provoking presentation on how YSC can attract and retain diverse #talent. You’ve left us all inspired. It has been a wonderful five weeks with you both in our London office!

Ed Cochrane’s Journey With YSC

Ed Cochrane’s Journey With YSC

“At the start of my career (35 years ago) my grandfather gave me this sage like advice – “remember to be yourself as all the other spaces are taken.” YSC is the place where I have been encouraged to bring my whole self to work, with our great clients, doing interesting work. I started six years ago not really knowing what to expect. Moving from a managing consultant, leading the Edinburgh Office and becoming one of the firms directors has been a humbling privilege. I work with a great team and the best is yet to come.”

Catherine O'Brien's Journey With YSC

Catherine O'Brien's Journey With YSC

I came into YSC as a receptionist without a clear idea of where my career was going. I was given so much support. People invested their time into helping me explore my career path and through development opportunities I now have a role in the Europe HR Team. Without YSC I wouldn’t have had the skills or confidence to take this next step. I have built amazing relationships that I value, and I’m constantly learning from the inspiring people I’m surrounded by.

Charles Mead's Journey With YSC

Charles Mead's Journey With YSC

After 20 years, YSC is still magic. It’s the close-knit community I always wanted to be a part of. The company is filled with talented colleagues I learn from constantly. We have great professional opportunities to shape clients’ leadership through ideas, initiatives and relationships. And, a global reach that feeds my fascination for working with leaders from different cultures. I’m proud to have worked in 27 countries for our clients.

Celebrating #PrideMonth – New York

Celebrating #PrideMonth – New York

Our Americas team celebrated #PrideMonth this past Friday, where people shared their coming out stories and we discussed what it means to be a friend to the LGBTQ+ community. We’re encouraged to be our authentic selves at YSC, and that enabled a personal and moving exchange.

Pride Month Book Club – London

Pride Month Book Club – London

Our YSC Pursuit of Happiness and the LGBTQ+ teams came together to host Pride Month Book Club. They discussed Guapa by Saleem Hassad, a debut novel about a young gay man coming of age in the Middle East. It’s so meaningful to see our teams across the globe come together to recognize the importance of #PrideMonth and celebrate each other, not only during the month of June, but all year long.

Suprima Gurung’s Journey with YSC

“I belong at YSC because I feel fulfilled working in a diverse team where every day is interesting and challenging. I have had the chance to develop my professional skills and really grow within my role during the past two years. As a company, we’re always exchanging fresh ideas and learning something new. Everyone at YSC genuinely cares for one another and is passionate about the work we deliver. I’ve truly made some sincere friends who I can socialise with outside of work, as well as enjoy some friendly competition with during our team outings – most recently was to the escape room. Thank you to all my colleagues for being so supportive throughout my career journey!”

Amit Desai’s Journey with YSC

Amit Desai’s Journey with YSC

This collage is how I spent my last month of work at YSC Consulting, which is very representative of my four years at the company. I’m based in the Mumbai office and have had the opportunity to travel to Sydney, New York and Singapore throughout the past few weeks. The impactful work we’ve been doing during this travel involves consulting global clients on leadership strategy, conducting internal capability for our new hires and co-creating strategy for one of our high-priority practise areas. Every time I travel, I’m always so inspired by collaborating with my YSC colleagues across offices – they’re incredibly smart, kind, fun-loving and characterful! What binds us together, despite our geographical spread and diversity, is our deep sense of belonging to YSC and our alignment on driving excellence for our clients.

Cecilia Garcia’s Journey with YSC

Cecilia Garcia’s Journey with YSC

I made one of the best decisions of my life by joining YSC almost eight years ago. My twin babies were only six months old at the time, and little did we know that such a great adventure was about to begin for our family and for my professional career. Since then, I have worked and lived in three different countries, holding roles spanning from building a new business in Latin America to helping develop the West Coast region of the US – all while raising three beautiful kids. I feel extremely lucky to have such a meaningful and fulfilling career, to help leaders and organizations thrive, and to have great flexibility and work-life balance to enjoy my family! On top of that, I get to connect with brilliant colleagues and leaders across the globe, all of whom are wonderful human beings.
