Nowadays you would be hard pressed to find a professional athlete who is not supported by a coach. Or in the Arts, where great performers rely on coaching support to focus their goals, plan their approach and eliminate inner blocks to success.
The same holds true for executives wanting to perform at the top of their game, both for themselves and in order to deliver greater returns for their organisation. Our coaches have supported executives from around the world – across a multitude of sectors – to do precisely this.
Coaching is a proven and effective means of realising your full potential. It can be the critical factor that tips the balance between failure and success, and it is particularly valuable at certain points in your career. These might be when transitioning from a technical to a leadership role, in which delivering through others becomes central; or to a more demanding role, where a clearer, bigger and braver leadership style is required. It could also be just what is needed when you are needing support around confidence, impact and interpersonal relationships; thinking about your future career promotion, direction and succession or considering your own personal purpose and leadership possibility.
A coaching relationship will typically start with an extended coaching session in which you and your coach get to know each other and define the issues you wish to address. The second session is often a 3-way with the line manager in which to ensure these coaching goals align with those of the business. There are then a further four sessions, 1.5 - 2 hours in length at 3 - 6 week intervals.
In addition, many leaders ask their coaches to conduct stakeholder feedback, either in the form of written 360s or 1:1 conversations with relevant colleagues. These are then written up into a report on a non-attributable basis. Also available is our proprietary Pulse Tracker which monitors change on a few, key behavioural shifts, during and beyond the coaching.
All assignments close with a coaching effectiveness survey to help you, the business and YSC monitor the value of the coaching provided. Reputable studies of Fortune 500 firms have calculated that coaching’s return on investment deliver as much as 689%.
